Pink Lady Food Photographer of the Year 2018
Wowie wat een ervaring. Ik stond in de finale bij “Pink Lady Food Photographer of the Year 2018” in Londen, in de Mall Galeries (midden in het centrum).
Uit 8000 inzendingen van over de hele wereld kwamen 600 in een shortlist terecht. Hieruit kwamen 150 finalisten en ik zat erbij in de categorie “Foodbloggers’. Met bovenstaande foto “Mothers pears”. En als enige Nederlander, dat mag gezegd worden.
Samen met vriendin Floortje vloog ik naar Londen. We vlogen in de ochtend en hadden twee volle dagen de tijd om Londen te verkennen. ‘s Avonds hadden we de uitreiking.
Bij binnenkomst bij de Mall kregen we heerlijke champagne en de avond was perfect verzorgt. Ik bleek met nog 5 anderen in de finale te staan.
Uiteindelijk ben ik 3e geworden, wat een eer! Als je nagaat dat ik pas 1 jaar bezig ben…
David Loftus was ook aanwezig, de food fotograaf van Jamie Oliver en een van ‘s werelds beste food fotografen. En nog andere mensen ontmoet die ik via Instagram “ken” zoals Donna Crous.
Pink Lady Food Photographer of the Year 2018
WOWIE what an experience. I stood in the finals at “Pink Lady Food Photographer of the Year 2018” in London, at the Mall Galleries (right in the city centre).
From 8000 entries from all over the world I came in a short list with 600. Out this came 150 finalists and I was in the category “Foodbloggers ‘. With above picture “Mothers pears”. And I was the only one from Holland…
Along with girlfriend Floortje I flew to London. We flew in the morning and had two full days to explore London. In the evening we had the ceremony.
Upon entering at the Mall we got delicious champagne and the evening was perfect. I was with 5 others in the finals.
Eventually I become 3rd, what an honor! When you consider that I am doing only food photography for 1 year now.
David Loftus was also present, the Jamie Oliver’s food photographer and one of the world’s best food photographers. And other people I met through Instagram as Donna Crous.
Tips voor Londen
Airbnb Londen
Ik boekte een kamer in London via Airbnb in de wijk Kensal Rice. Een heerlijke plek en prima te vertoeven. En een aanrader is het gebruik van Uber, echt perfect. Geen gedoe met gesjouw met je zware tas. Gewoon via de app, waar je ook bent, bestel je een Uber en je hebt ook al betaald.

Airbnb London
I booked a room in London via Airbnb in Kensal Rice. A lovely place and fine. And we recommend the use of Uber, really perfect. No hassle with heavy lifting with your heavy bag. Just through the app, where you are, order a Uber and you also have already paid.
3 Hotspots in Londen:
Wij wilden juist de schattige wijkjes en huisjes bekijken deze dagen. En niet de al te drukke toeristische gebieden.
1. Notting Hill.
Een prachtige wijk. Wij zijn begonnen bij Portobello Road. Een winkelstraat met marktkraampjes. Als je deze verder loopt ga je een beetje omhoog en kom je de gekleurde huizen tegen. Let ook op de zijstraatjes. Juist hier staan prachtige huizen.
3 Hotspots in London:
We wanted to see the cute neighbourhoods and houses these days. And not the all-too-crowded tourist areas.
1. Notting Hill.
A beautiful district. We started at Portobello Road. A shopping street with market stalls. If you go a little further up you see the colored houses. Note also the side streets; right here there are the beautiful houses.
Wij kozen voor een rustig zijstraatje waar we een heerlijke lunch cafe vonden. Ik at er zuurdesem brood met avocado en een gepocheerd ei. Werkelijk. Heerlijk. Overal zie je zuurdesem brood. En als je een beetje je best doet om iets gezonds te vinden dan vind je dat vrij makkelijk.
We chose a quiet side street where we found a delicious lunch cafe. I ate there sourdough bread with avocado and a poached egg. Really. Delicious. Everywhere you come you see sourdough bread. And if you are to do your best to find something healthy you will find it pretty easy.
Ga absoluut even langs Ottolenghi eetwinkel in Notting Hill (en als je ergens anders bent gewoon even opzoeken waar hij nog meer zit). Mijn vriendin Floortje is gelukkig ook een kook fanaat en werd helemaal enthousiast in deze winkel. We kochten er pistache cake met rozenblaadjes, een streling voor de tong.
Absolutely stop by Ottolenghi in Notting Hill food store (and if you’re just here to look up somewhere else where he is even more). My girlfriend Floortje is also a cooking fanatic and was totally excited in this store. We bought there pistachio cake with rose petals, a delight for the palate.
2. Wandeling bij het kanaal, achter Camden Town.
Via Camden Town liepen we achter de toeristische markt (die ik echt niet charmant vond) langs het kanaal richtig Regent street. Als je even op Google Maps kijkt op je telefoon zie je welke kant je moet lopen. Het is een rustig pad waar je op allemaal mooie bootjes uitkijkt en huizen aan het water. Heel rustgevend.
3. Primrose Hill
Als je Regent Street uitloop loop je tegen het park Primrose Hill aan. Als je dan naar rechts de straat Primrose Hill Road ingaat waan je je in een heerlijk rustig mooi winkel straatje. Aan het einde vind je “Greenberry Cafe”, absoluut de moeite waard om hier te lunchen.
En ga even het wijkje hier in; ik vond hier blauwe, gele en roze huizen.
2. Walk near the channel, behind Camden Town.
Via Camden Town, we walked behind the tourist market (which I reallyfound it very charming) along the Canal out to Regent street. If you look on Google Maps on your phone you see which way you need to walk. It is a quiet path where you all beautiful looking out on boats and houses on the water. Very soothing.
3. Primrose Hill
If you walk out of Regent Street you go to the Primrose Hill park. If you go to the right the street you will enter Primrose Hill Road; a quiet attractive shopping street. At the end you will find “Greenberry Cafe”, absolutely worth to have lunch here.
And walk in the neighbourhood; I found here blue, yellow and pink houses.

Helaas kon ik geen messen vervoeren aangezien we alleen handbagage hadden…anders wist ik het wel.
Unfortunately I could not carry knives since we only had hand luggage … otherwise I knew.
Door Londen ben ik verslaaft geworden aan bovenstaand gerecht. Bijna te mooi om op te eten.
